Just came back from the HC carnival... ok forgive them since it's their 1st time and the weather was against them... it was just ok-ly fun only... but to speak the truth I wasn't expecting very much going into the carnival... if I din have to absorb 2 sets of tickets myself I wouldn't even be there...

Anyway, I have to bitch about the canteen and the food stalls... I think the food stalls should have been more spaced out instead of being all squashed into the small canteen space. Just squeezing in and out of the crowd made me expend so much energy... and it was so hot and crampy like a sauna!!! OMG!!

But I ate like a pig there... too many coupons to spend mah. So when Jan and I met we began eating and eating. Some of the food stalls serve pretty good food u noe... like the baked potatoes and the ice-cream waffle, and are definitely worth the money. Ya then after that we went to the game stalls in the field but the field was muddy and all so it was empty and all initially... looks sian from far. But the games there are fun. We played this game called litterbug where we had to catch drink cans and bottles with two pails... we only won like a pack of doritos and some sweets but it was fun haha...

Then we watched some ppl play sumo wrestling... it was so funny cuz it was a guy and a gal and the gal kept being slammed onto the ground and yelling and complaining about how heavy the suit was (they had to wear this inflated sumo-wrestler suit which was hilarious looking haha... with two nehs hanging out summore lol). Ya but I couldn't find someone enthu enough to play with me haha...

Spent some time at my CCA booth after Jan left for her tuition... sprayed water guns and stuff with my juniors... also kenna a water bomb (which wasn't targeted at me but the bomb missed) so I wa slike quite wet... plus the sweat form squeezing through crowds made me like super sweaty and wet... wth...

Overall quite fun la... those who missed it missed out on lots i think... oh ya the mornign got opening ceremony in which the MAD dances were like super cool and zhai... was super-wowed by them...

Long and boring talks, bad dinner, mounting workload....

I'm TIRED and PISSED!

Ok blog time. Yesterday was a long but fun day. Managed to play squash though it was only for a short time, but still enjoyed it. Didn't sleep during econs S lecture (surprisingly...) and also copied lots of notes on Singapore which might be useful for S econs. Didn't know that Singapore actually has quite a lot of hope economically for the next 20-30 years... can develop into a HQ/regional hub and our services are quite sought after for too...

Anyway, I went to watch King Arthur today with Lionel... although I read newspaper reports criticising how there is a persistent fog flooding half the movie and making it boring/unscenic. But I didn't really think the fog spoilt the movie in any way leh... added quite a good effect in certain scenes. Loved the battle scene at the frozen mountains (which involved snow and fog btw so what's the big fu** about the fog rite...). Cool effects of the breaking ice... The movie din really wow me like Timeline did but it wasn't as sad as the tabloids put it...

And then after the movie I was telling Lionel that actually the movie is not tt bad... and his response trigerred me to think about a very unnoticed yet crucial part of our lives and decisions. He said sth like the reviews were bad cuz the press was probably expecting something fantastic (maybe comparing it to previous movies of the same kind eg LOTR) but Arthur din really live up to their expectations ... But other shows which the media don't put so much emphasis on/don't create so much hype about eg Timeline, when they "outperform", they get the best reviews... when in actual fact if a person who doesn't get influenced by any public opinions watch both movies, he might 99.99% likely give both an almost equal score.

Expectations... that was what I was talking about. Sometimes we subconciously allow our expectations to warp our thoughts/decisions without knowing it... and sometimes we may make bad/unwise decisions because of our expectations.... agree? Some examples struck me as I was thinking further about this issue.

Like the recent Euro 2004... where Greece won and there was this big hoo-hah about how the underdogs rose to the challenge and all... (I'm guilty of adding to the hype btw haha) I was thinking, a team like Greece which entered the competition with no expectation to do well whatsoever and subsequently went to win it would be celebrated. But what if say France or Czech Rep went to win it... would they be as honoured and hailed and 'worshipped' like the Greeks were? My guess is that their supporters would be celebrating for a while then it will be over and unremembered. The supporters for other teams would probably just go "oh they deserve it so oh well la..." So expectations of a team/person can actually affect how we think... and sometimes by so much that we dunno...

Another incident also came into my mind... after we received our econs case study scripts, winnie was telling me how  she totally thought she screwed parts a and b and thought she would do best for part c... it turned out to be the opposite. And it struck me. What if we didn't expect to do so well for certain tasks/questions, and just go into the exam/attempt the question with an open mind and "just try my best" attitude, and put no stress on ourselves... we may even do better than something else which we expect we would do better (maybe because we think we have more knowledge/experience in) and instead put so much stress on ourselves that we might not eventually do well in. For example if I did 2 essay qns, one on say labour and the other on Singapore's exchange rate regime, and if i got the same marks for both (say 16/25), I would feel sad for the exchange rate qn while feel glad for the labour qn... and it would be a big divergence in feelings lor... I'm sure all of u guys have felt something close to this at some point of your lives too rite... so ya... expectations again...

Why tell yourself: "Aim for the moon, even if you miss, it will land among the stars." I will tell myself: "Aim as high as your hand can stretch. If you miss just try again next time." So to all stressing-on-yourselves ppl out there including myself (with no particular reference whatsoever) just try to relax your own expectations la... dun think that just because you topped subject X this time that you have to have to do it the next time, and the next, and next... it never ends unless you want it to... I guess I will to relax and take more time to spot my strengths and weaknesses and try to improve myself, instead of thinking about how I should strive to top everything...

Hmm... dunno what's wrong with me. Switched on the com for the past 2 days but forgot to blog when I actually kept telling myself to...

Anyway here I am. Ok Saturday was a very happy day for me, although the better half of it was taken up by a school event. Went to watch the NEFMQ (Nat. Econs and Fund Management Quiz) and also support the Hwa Chong Team. Got freebie summore *cheapskate grin* okok but tt's not the point. Hwa Chong was like leading all the way so it was a very cheery mood for all the HC-ians there. Although we din have the largest number of supporters there and VJ had like twice our strength, but they were like making so many stupid mistakes in answering the qns... anyway I did know the answer to many questions (and it's not all tyco guess wan hor) so it helped boost my morale abit...

Anyway we won at last after a media presentation round (in which I learnt a lot of new stuff too) in which although we lost VJ by 5 points in, but the earlier lead we had over them was more than enough to make us champs!!!! So yup, anotehr 1st prize for our Mr Ang... :S

Nth else to say... spent the whole of today mugging. Went to Changi for dinner with relatives after so long. Food changed a little but still very nice... :) :D

Ok... I shall not attempt to formulate profound sounding lines again... not here at least...

Anyway this week passed very quickly to my pleasant surprise. Very mao2 dun4 now cuz I dunno if I wanrt time to go faster or slower... Faster is good cuz I am sick and tired of dragigng my two feet around school from LT to classrooms and all everyday, but yet with each pasing day prelims draw closer (just the thought of having to write 3 essays in a row is turning me off... both A econs and S econs lor wth...)

Yesterday during maths S I went into anotehr depression mode... the S maths questions on probability and stats are so darn diffivult. Found myself panickly copying down the solutions on the board and trying hard to decipher them cuz the teacher likes to skip steps. Also forgot expX = 1 + X + X(squared)/2! +... which was crucial for poisson distributions btw. *Shrug* Then still go to do the assignment qns... *cringe*

Oh ya just wanted to say I am officially off the hook for NAPFA... at least for now. I got a short term MC (short term exemption I think) for my PES C status!!! Yay!!! *Hears some applause and bows*

Ok today was interesting too... got back the PSC psychometric test results which we did last term. Mine wasn't very accurate leh... they ask me to be more animated if I seem disinterested in activities... eh I rarely get PMS right? And if I become more animated I think all my frens will shun me and I'll get more comments like "dun act cute leh" "dun gay leh" etc... more animated?? hmmph... And to Woon Teng: Eh this morning when we just received I haven even read my own results then you so gan jiong of course I won't let you see la... at least let me see my own first mah... kaoz...

Ok tt's about all la... gotta go get a good shower then play GB liao :D!!

On the way home on the bus, I was actually thinking about some things tt I thought I wanna pen down.

Never mind
if my kazaa is down and I cannot dl new songs... when I took my old CDs to listen I found nice songs in some of the CDs I have not listened to completely before...

Never mind
if I miss the bus and see it zooming away right in front of me... when I took the later bus I met an old friend and we had a very hearty chat...

Never mind
if people do better than me... when I look at disappointing grades I am humbled and at the same time I learn the things they don't, see the problem from an angle they don't...

Never mind
if I am ugly, fat, stupid or whatever... when I look in the mirror what I see is someone that no other will see in their mirrors...

Never mind
if I don't eventually get my desired 4As and 2Ds... at least when I look back I know I had a happy time, didn't let anyone down, didn't get overvalued...

Things don't always appear the way they are... you just have to have faith in what you are doing and believe firstly almighty God has a path planned for you and that secondly you are being truthful. Don't build lies to make up for all that you lack, and never never believe in this sweet madness, this glorious sadness that brings you to your knees.

Conclusion: RELAX LA! DUN STRESS!!

Just came back from the PSC tes session... very informative. Suddenly very interested in going to foreign universities for my tertiary education. Yup, esp France or Germany. Looking at the pics which the scholars took kept me thinking of me being in the pictures haha so...

Anyway the morning leading up to the session was sucky. Din noe that the agora is actually inside this like old building (city hall i think) then kept walking up and down St. Andrew's Road looking frantically so sigh...

Then thought it would end at 12.30 (time given by them) but it ended or rather I left the palce at 1.30 at last. After lunch tt leaves like less than half the day left. Crap now got no mood to do hmwk but like got a lot to do liddat leh... sian diao.

Burp~~ The smell of the fried oyster (hao2 jian1) is still reeking in my breathe... but it was like superb fried oyster... really as their signboard said: Die die must try!!!! It's at the carpark 'hawker centre' opposite centrepoint. Got chance you all MUST MUST go try ok? If you dun you're really missing out on something great...

Yup jan and I went to chiong that 'glutton's square' today after school. Arrived at orchard at ard 5... then shopped ard the area and went to the square at 5.30. People were already streaming in at tt tme so if u wanna have a table without waiting u better arrive early. Stalls start operation at 6 btw. Yup then at ard 5.55 ppl start queing outside the stalls already, so again must act fast. The two most popular stalls are the oyster and the fried hokkien noodles/char kway teow stalls, so must queue fast...

Ok enuf of the advertising, we also ordered bak ku teh (which sucked cos they added so much pepper and the soup was so sub-mediocre... we also ordered roti prata which was just so-so. Oh well then went to hmv to chill... listened to mainly the jazz and classical albums today... suddenly start to have a newfound interest in this kind of music... heh. Sarah Brightman's 'Time to say goodbye' still rox even tho I have not heard it for some time... may buy some of these to lounge and chill at home.

Heh... that kind off rounds up my day. Tml is another day out at some PSC tea session. Still have some hmwk to do... so spoils my mood... :(

A boring day at school today. Well sort of. Forgot got chem test till I was reminded this morning. Heck care got 8/15 haha...

Helped wt take her photo... she and brenda (her good friend) kept talking about aperture (what f8.0 aperture is not low enough for blurry pics or sth... crap) and shutter speed and whatnots :S took pic outside admin block where teachers often passed on their way out and down from staff room... had to keep pausing :S but got it over and done with at last *phew

Psychoed by pei and kai kiat to go prom... peh used a scheming plan to trick eng and I.... grr tml find u count scores...

LD handover (at long last) long overdue liao... haha a little sad to relinquish my post as drama head (sounds so ncie rite haha) but a little relieved cuz tt means less long days (notice the word 'less' and not 'fewer' cuz the no. of long meetings were uncountable). Juz hope tt PPP and JTS would leave the very much awaited perfect full-stop to this well A2 essay??

Tml going to chiong glutton's square with janelle... to think I was about to cut the carbs. Oh well. Anyway how come ur school always got 1/2 day wan ar? so good... not like us. :(

A very long and tiring day today... not surprised i slept thru wad was supposed to be my study time of today

Had scholarship day in the morning... had to put up with talks by DSTA and SPF... like so boring and wasting my time cuz I will never apply for their scholarships much less work for them... sigh found it so hard to keep my eyes open

Anyway the scholarship fair later was much better and def worth my time... found out lots form CAAS (Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore). Their job sounded challenging cuz need to like uphold the good rep of SQ and Changi Airport and all... but it sounded very fun too! Well at least the super-enthu guy who was explaining to me the various job scopes in CAAS made it sound so haha. But xx asked them about their scholarships awarded and I learnt they only gave like 2-3 a year... and muz get distinction in GP summore. But def one worth working for

Den went to the Teaching scholarship talk at MOE HQ. Stupid MOE botches... nv send me the invite letter tho I signed up for it... learnt from many other frens that they din receive the letter too tho they signed up... I mean I understand u have availability constraints and all, but u shld have forseen that if u were going to open invitations to so many students in the 1st place rite? And how they chose who 'deserved' to receive the invite is also dubious... sigh so poor organisation that i was almost put off by their f***ing attitude din want to go... but i have considered teaching la so i will give myself and them a chance... grr ya but that sort of took up like the rest of my day. Oh did i mention that the talk was sooooooooo boring too? sigh... presenters nowadays ar...

Anyway all this talk about scholarships and all... dun even noe how my A's will turn out... scarly can't even apply er... still think so much about it summore rite?? haha. *keeping fingers crossed*

Yesterday was one of the best days of my life... very happy going out with my best friends

Went cycling at pasir ris park... so funny at first cuz we couldn't find the kiosk and we searched high and low at NTUC chalet there (plus we had to pay $1 for admission...) then finally we found the kiosk outside of the chalet area (stupid ray.... grr...)

Anyway then we cycled ard the park... very nice scenery there u noe for those who have not been there b4... the beach very nice and serene and there were only very few ppl there yesterday so we almost had like the whole park to ourselves are we just cycle ard at top speeds and creaming our lungs out!!! Ya I felt so free then... away from the shackles of school.

Yup, then halfway as we were cycling ounder some trees ray kenna jiao sai... so funny he screamed so loudly I thought he fell seriously or sth but turned out to be jiao sai... haha so funny i laugh until... can't decide if that was funnier or if i saw someone crashing into the bushes funnier lol... then we were thinking which proverb would hold true: hou4 bu4 dan1 xing2 or feng1 shui3 lun2 liu2 zhuan3... then we were like maybe u today suay tml when u get back results will be lucky... and then jan say if liddat she wish she kenna jiao sai herself haha

Then after 2 hrs of cycling we went to bedok to eat... and I ordered and ate so much my tummy almost exploded haha... ate wanton mee, carrot cake, chwee kuei, fried hokkien mee and satay (of cuz some is share wan la but u get the idea...) but i felt so good after the meal

Then we took 196 from bedok all the way to clementi stadium there... and ren and I chatted all the way about tv shows and whatnots... very good time to chat actually since 196 at night is not populated at all and got air-con plus u can like camp at the last row of seats and be king there so very shuang... must take more 196 next time...

Anyway tt's about all... a simple day out with very good frens can very well be one of the best dyas of ur life... never had such days since jc started... oh well better enjoy this last day of 'hols' b4 sch starts again tml... cya

YAY BACK AFTER ONE WEEK OF ABSENCE!!!!

My internet connection sort of failed after the mass blackout last tuesday... yah so very sian diao... thought might be a power surge so I waited a few days to no avail... then I finally called Starhub and they came over to check my SCV signal thingey... then after some time of chekcing we realised that fault is ours... on the night of the blackout we switched off every power source ans also the booster in my bro's room from where I draw the signal from... (bottomline: blackout's fault :S)

Anyway be prepared for a long blog entry ya... I have lots of things to say...

29 June Tuesday:

Stupid blackout... caused so much inconvenience at my house... have to light so many candles and the whole house was so hot and stuffy... plus the next day got chem prac... luckily it is in the afternoon so not that bad... Anyway first two days of BT over... the really stressful papers too... phew *sigh of relieve* I think I din do well for phy (as usual what's new rite? haha) Ya felt very lost when doing the paper... But GP is ok, should be able to secure a satisfactory pass :)

Today's papers were much better... or so I felt after doing them... felt good after finishing the papers except for econs' case study (10,10,10 siao rite?!!!) Yup so now can rest a bit more... Awaiting the match btw Greece and Czech Rep this fri...

Greece rox caused they beat France on Sat!

30 June Wednesday:

Prac die liao... exothermic reactions I put delta-H as positive... *sian diao* then I also couldn't finish the kinetics design... the idea only came to me at the 13th hour oh well but I dun think I will fail the paper la... as long as it doesn't bring down my average can liao rite? haha.... tml morning got portugal versus holland but also got maths paper... which is my part of the powder-smashing plan... so cannot watch...

1 July Thursday:

Yay I fell very good about maths.... except for the complex no and functions question I think the rest is still pretty ok! :) Port win holland yay! Dunid to see zhuai dutch faces in the finals... hope port meet greece in finals...

2 July Friday:

Greece rox cause they beat Czech!! I noe there is quite some dispute about the refereeing but I think both sides had a fair share of 50-50 situations rite.... haha Ya I watched the match... who cars about phy prac rite?? which btw is so easy... *yawns* Anyway 1/2way thru the day I felt unwell... was supposed to go watch spidey 2 with 63 guys but din feel too good so I just went to eat with them.... so much mac we ordered siao... kept stuffing my face with fries and nuggets...

Then went to Jan's lounge to play ping-pong wiht jan and ray... and also play cards... without the stress of having to revert back to study mode anytime... so shuang... very long nv liddat liao haha

3 July Saturday:

Finally called starhub... dun remember anything about this day... think I just stayed at home playing warcraft III

4 July Sunday:

Dad came back... dad and mom went out to buy phone in the afternoon... I din ask for one cuz going to army soon so nvm la... thern my bro (whose current hp is newer than mine btw) ask for a new one... 7200 sigh he keep spending so much $$

Ate dinner at soup restaurant... 10 ppl eat until $185... and the food is just like normal fare leh... place and ambience also not posh or anything dare to charge so ex!!! Plus my dad wanna franchise this in thailand... dun think it will work cause it is so ex and cheapskate!!!

5 July Monday:

Yay Greece win UEFA Euro2004!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So happy... I think they played real well against portugal... haha am so proud of them! Greece rox!

Tho I think the fever will die off in a few days when school starts all over again.... anyway all you ppl who dun think greece will cut it: Screw you! Yeah!
